Dr. Steven Feifer, internationally renowned expert in the field of learning disabilities, is coming to Edmonton to present two not‐to‐be missed work‐
shops on the neuropsychology of reading, writing and mathematics. Steven G. Feifer, D. Ed., NCSP, ABSNP is
an acclaimed speaker and author in the field of learning disabilities. He has two decades of experience as a school
psychologist and has received multiple awards at the state and national level for his work in the area of learning disabilities. He is the author of 7 books on learning and emotional disorders in children and of norm referenced tests
for diagnosing learning disabilities in children: The Feifer Assessment of Reading (FAR) and the Feifer Assessment of Mathematics (FAM).
Day 1: The Neuropsychology of Reading and Written Language Disorders
Thursday, December 5th, 2019, 9 am to 3:00 pm
This workshop will examine reading and written language disorders from a brain‐
based perspective. Different dyslexia and dysgraphia subtypes will be reviewed,
along with evidence based interventions that consider a student’s reading and
writing profile and developmental stage.
Day 2: The Neuropsychology of Mathematics
Friday, December 6th, 2019, 9 am to 3:00 pm
This workshop will explore how students acquire foundational mathematical skills
from a brain‐based perspective. The impact of working memory, visual‐spatial
reasoning, language skills and executive functioning will be featured. Different
learning disability subtypes in mathematics and appropriate interventions will be
reviewed.
