Teacher - Math Remediation - Grades 3-9

What is the opportunity?

As a teacher for the Centre for Literacy, you will provide one-on-one individualized support to students who struggle with foundational math concepts. 

Support will be online from the comfort of your home. 

What will you do?

  • Prepare individualized lesson plans.

  • Teach students remotely using the Google Suite platform. Classes are typically 60 minutes. 

  • Report progress regularly.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor of Education from an accredited Canadian institution

  • Training in math remediation strategies

  • High commitment to professional development

  • Excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence

  • Digital literacy across a broad range of devices

  • Competency using Google Meet and Google Slides, or equivalent

Nice-to-have

  • Experience working with students with learning disabilities

  • Ability to provide instruction in French as well as English

Teachers commit to a minimum of 6-10 hours per week with a consistent schedule for the school year. Teaching hours are done typically after school/early evenings (4-8 pm MST) and/or Saturdays and Sundays.

Rate of Pay

Rate is dependent upon education and experience.

The Centre for Literacy is currently developing professional courses for teachers who want to build their skills in teaching reading and working with students with challenges that affect their learning. All courses will be released the week of August 19th, and can be bundled.
