Games Night for Adults with Autism

[siteorigin_widget class=”SiteOrigin_Widget_Image_Widget”][/siteorigin_widget]
The Centre for Literacy, with the kind support of the Larry and Janet Anderson Philanthropies, is delighted to host Board Games Night.  Held every second Thursday, it provides an opportunity for adults or older teens on the autism spectrum to get together and play a variety of board games. A formal diagnosis of autism is not necessary to participate.

Games at Games Night range from Role Playing Games to traditional board games. Participants get to decide.

There is no charge to participate, but registration is necessary. We do this to ensure so that we can best address the needs and interests of participants. If you are interested, contact the Centre for Literacy at 780-434-3698 or email us at info@centre4literacy.com. Jaime, the Recreation Therapist who coordinates Games Night, will be in contact with you to set up a brief telephone call.

The Centre is also contributing with the Faculty of Social Work of the University of Calgary to conduct a research project on recreation needs and social connectedness amongst individuals with autism. All participants will be invited to be part of the research study. However, agreement to be part of the research study is totally voluntary; individuals are welcome to attend even if they do not wish to participate in the study.

The Centre is a friendly venue for people with mobility issues. There is plenty of free parking at our site, and designated disabled parking stalls. Companions are welcome to attend.

Games Night will be held every second Thursday. Here is a list of dates for future evenings for 2018:
